The Bowdoin Orient
The nation's oldest continuously published college weekly.

Students, Brunswick residents, and members of state-wide organizations will gather to share community service experiences and ideas with one another. Locally brewed root beer provided free of charge.

Teams of eight or more will compete in honor of Pete Schuh in this longstanding Bowdoin tradition. Pizza and t-shirts will be provided. Registration $50 per team.

The gender and women’s studies department will provide an assortment of food and drinks to the Bowdoin
community in celebration of the last day of classes.

The end-of-the-semester event will host a number of student performances including DJs, bands, and a
selection of solo acts.

Belinda Kong, assistant professor of English and Asian studies, will discuss her newly released book on the fiction that emerged after the 1989 China’s Tianamen massacre.

University of Toronto professor Clifford Orwin will discuss chapters 18 and 19 of the Book of Genesis, and dissect the story of Abraham, God, and the destruction of Sodom. The lecture is open to the public and free of charge.

SUNY Stony Brook professor of art history and author of “The End of Art” Donald Kuspit will discuss the ongoing debate on 20th-century art and its relevance today.

Students will be able to browse silver jewelry and other accessories from local vendors.

The Americana band will give their end-of-the-year performance downtown. Tickets $10 at the door and $8 in advance.

The Bowdoin Community Gospel Choir will perform a variety of gospel pieces alongside the Bates Gospelaires.

The Choir will host its end-of-semester concert and sing a variety of eclectic pieces from around the globe.

Researchers from an array of colleges and universities, as well as students, will discuss marine ecology in Maine.

A cappella groups the Longfellows, BellaMafia, BOKA, Miscellania, Ursus Versus and the Meddiebempsters will perform. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Student Museum and Art Club will present the acclaimed PBS television show that explores 21st-century art.

The last Common Hour of the year will feature a number of student dance performances, sponsored by the Department of Theater and Dance.

The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity will present the 2010 documentary about a transgender male.

Students will perform a variety of musical works alongside the Mozart Mentors Orchestra. No tickets or reservations necessary, admission is free.

A documentary following an African-American teenager’s encounters with a number of black idols such as Chris Rock and Lupe Fiasco aims to highlight the importance of education and role models.

Boston University Law School’s Kevin Outterson and Ilya Shapiro, senior fellow at the Cato Institute, will consider the pros and cons of the Affordable Health Care Act.

The Café will provide food and drink during the 35-minute preview of the new upcoming season of “Sherlock.”

Art historian Barbara Stafford will discuss her ongoing research on the correspondence between neuroscience and visual art.

The ensembles will perform a variety of pieces from around the globe.

Club members will present traditional Chinese instruments and African dance, among other performances during
