The 22nd annual AIDS Walk Kansas City will be held Saturday, April 24th at Theis Park, located at 47th and Oak Streets, just south of the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., stage entertainment and Welcoming Ceremonies commence at 9:00 a.m. and at 10:00 a.m. sharp, WE WALK!
This year’s theme, Walk Forward Count Backward, reminds us that in spite of the medical advances to help those living with HIV/AIDS, the number of those living with the disease continues to increase. We walk forward to roll back the number of those suffering with HIV/AIDS in our hometown. We walk in memory of those we have lost.
We are pleased to announce that Ameriprise Financial will serve as the Underwriting Sponsor of AIDS WALK 2010. We are also thrilled to welcome back our Major Sponsors Saint Luke’s Health System, Salva O’Renick, Old Navy, Miller Lite/Central States Beverage, State Street, Metzler Bros. Insurance, PrescriptiCare/Walgreens and BioScrip Pharmacy. We are also pleased to announce that GE Kansas City will serve as Honorary Corporate Chair of AIDS WALK 2010.
With each step, our Walkers help local AIDS service organizations to provide shelter, case management and short and long-term medical care and emergency assistance to those affected by HIV/AIDS in our community. Last year, nearly 4,000 compassionate Walkers helped raise over $435,000 to benefit Hope Care Center, Kansas City Free Health Clinic, Good Samaritan Project and SAVE, Inc.
