In November 2006 my brother went to the hospital to be seen for headaches, my familys life was forever changed that day. Richard was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor and given 60 days to live. The doctors told us that he would not make it to Christmas that year, and that we should be prepared to loose him. My brother went through radiation and chemo therapy and through everything always stayed positive and never gave up. After 27 months of fighting, Richard passed from pneumonia on February 15, 2009………he was 25.
My brother supported the research of brain tumors even though he told me that in his life he may never see a cure, but that one day, hopefully someone else would be saved. My family and friends participated in the National Brain Tumor Foundation walk in San Francisco with Richard in 2008 and will walk again this year, in memory of my brother and in the hope that one day, there will be a cure. Please support Team Richie in our efforts to raise as much as we can!!!
