It's been far too long since seeing some of you; others, not nearly long enough. But there's one thing you all have in common: you are crucial to the success of this housewarming party.

True, as our detractors (and protractors) are quick to point out, we're not exactly strangers to this neighborhood; it's been over a month since Patrick, Elliott and Nick moved in to the lower half of what's lovingly been dubbed Haight Six. It's equally true that 67% of us only moved eight blocks to get here. Oh, yes, we hear the naysayers crying through the windows: "Has not your house been warmed, if not in the burst and bustle of partydom, then by the slow-growing embers of casual visitors? Will you not temper your greed for jubilant atmosphere with even the faintest sense of civil propriety? Have you no shame, sirs, in your charming and eminently attractive selves?"

Okay, they don't say that charming, attractive thing. But this is more than just an excuse to get trashed on whatever we and you provide. This is bigger. We're creating something new, something that didn't exist before. The cohabitation of these six people is not simply a happenstance jostling of bodies that meandered and settled like dust motes near one another. These six individuals are not merely roommates, coworkers and acquaintances. These six gentlemen, these six human beings... they are a network. They have joined forces, forged a union, and built an alliance against the tyranny of the world about them. These six boys -- NAY! -- these six men... they are a family. And is that not the true meaning of the American Dream?
