Now I'm not sure what it is here that actually appeals to me, but I think it's a toss up between large black ladies singing their hearts out and well, BBQ. The talent on tap for the April 25th GB is The RIVER CITY CHRISTIANETTES. That name just kinda just oozes awesomeness, but probably because in my mind I'm thinking of little singing & dancing Rasinettes :/
I choose the 1pm slot because lets face it, we aren't exactly the "early to bed early to rise" type of crowd. Menu offers up traditional southern brunch fare like biscuits & gravy, migas, fried catfish, grits, hash browns, scrambled eggs w/ bacon or sausage, pancakes & syrup, fruit & cereal. As well as BBQ offerings: smoky brisket and chicken with beans. Oh and let's not forget about the "make your own" Bloody Mary bar either...
It looks like we need to call in for a reservation, so if you plan on attending just RSVP and Happy will take care of the reservation. Thanks Haps!
My goal is to ride my bike there, and then possibly go for a bike ride after (food coma be damned!) If you feel inclined to follow suit let me know and we can all meet up before.
I hope you can make it... In my opinion a group brunch is LOOOONG overdue.

Reservations at this BBQ joint in an historic Austin building named for the legendary BBQ purveyor from Lubbock will get you a seat downstairs in front of the gospel band of the week. We opt to sit upstairs near the buffet -- the band sounds just fine from there too. The fare here is strictly Southern comfort food such as biscuits and gravy, grits, hash browns, scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage, pancakes and syrup, fruit and cereal. However, it may be the only brunch buffet in town that also includes BBQ offerings: smoky brisket and chicken with beans and Mr. Stubb's famous namesake sauce.
