On May 13 at Bimbo’s 365 Club, Meklit Hadero will celebrate the release of her debut full-length CD "On A Day Like This...." out on Porto Franco Records. The evening will be an absolute extravaganza, a luminous shindig, a sultry soiree in San Francisco’s most beautiful room.
With an outstanding cast of characters from the jazz and roots music scene, the evening will feature Meklit with Marcus Shelby (bass), Darren Johnston (trumpet), Mohini Rustagi (drumkit), and a Classical Revolution string quartet.
The seven piece Quinn Deveaux and the Blue Beat Review open the night, and whole evening features guest spots by swing favorite Lavay Smith, Guthrie-acolyte Sam Doores and the inimitable Oakland opera diva, Jeannine Anderson, among other secret special guests (shhhhhh.....).
With tunes by DJ Jeremiah Kpoh, hosting by Thandiwe Thomas De Shazor, and art from the Great Tortilla Conspiracy (yes! there will be Meklit Tortillas designed specially for the event), this will be a night NOT TO BE MISSED.
