This two hour event will give students and the community a chance to witness first hand some of the amazing creativity and innovation that the next generation of entrepreneurs here in Arizona as well as across the U.S. are showcasing to the world. This event will highlight the millennial generation and what its impact will be on the future of business and entrepreneurship.
By bringing under one roof the talent of individuals such as Eric Crown, co-founder of Insight Enterprises and the benefactor of the newly established Crown Scholars program for Arizona State University students, World Entrepreneurship Day will be a medium for the community and students to learn about how these talented individuals are making an impact on our world and how entrepreneurship transforms ideas into action.
The WED celebration will involve several keynotes and a panel of guests that will aim to give the audience a better picture of the role of entrepreneurship for the millennial generation. There will be several opportunities for the audience to interact with the speakers and panelists so bring your questions
Agenda:
7 - Introduction to World Entrepreneurship day
7:05–7:20 – Dave Cooke – “Capturing the power of the millennial mindset”
Dave Cooke is a sales strategist by trade, but tonight, Dave isn’t going to teach you how to sell, he’s going to explain to why millennials are the change the world needs to embrace.
7:20-7:35 – Chris Boshuizen (NASA) – "How you and your friends can get to space"
The space race captured the nation's attention in the last century, but it doesn't seem that space captures people's imagination today. The idea of starting space companies is usually limited to hardcore space zealots, and many folks think that space is just too complex to address - it's rocket science, so it's not for them. But space remains the final frontier, and a sea of opportunity awaits. How can adopting the approach of Silicon Valley start-ups to the space industry break through the space barrier? In this session, learn how Chris is shaking things up at NASA - and why he thinks a group of students could get a small spacecraft to the Moon for $300,000 or less.
7:35-8:05 – Young Entrepreneurs Panel – Troy Byrd (Bryant University), Brandon Willey (redPear), Scott Ballum (Sheepless.org)
From Web Design and Development to Education to an online Magazine, these three Entrepreneurs are only getting on and off the first stops of their Careers. Listen in as they discuss with each other their thoughts on the importance of young entrepreneurs in the world, and then ask them some questions!
8:05-835 – Seasoned Entrepreneurs Panel – Eric Crown (Insight), Doug Ducey (iMemories/Coldstone), Dr. Matt Pittinksy (Blackboard)
Eric Crown is the Co-Founder of the Fortune 500 Company Insight Enterprises, Doug Ducey was the CEO of Coldstone Creamery and is the current chairman of iMemories, and Dr. Matt Pittinsky is the Co-Founder of Blackoard. Eric provided wholesale priced electronics and components to anyone that was looking for them, Doug gave anyone looking for a good ice cream a rollercoaster ride for their tongues with tastes out of this world, and Matt allowed classrooms to engage with their students in ways not previously possible. These 3 pioneers now sit on a panel to discuss the coming generation of Entrepreneurs and will then field questions from the audience.
8:35-8:50- Bambi Francisco (Vator.TV) – Check back tomorrow for more information on Bambi's talk!
8:50 -9:10 – Crown Scholars Video Competition
As part of the inaugural induction of the Crown Scholars program at ASU, a scholarship that was created in the name of Eric Crown to showcase entrepreneurial and creative talent at ASU through a video competition and to award five of those individuals with a $2000 scholarship, we will showcase ten entries to the program, and the audience and Eric will weigh in on who they like best, and that one applicant will win one of the scholarships right then and there!
