Greg Paulus and Nick DeBruyn AKA No Regular Play met as 8 year olds growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota. Picking up inspiration from hip-hop and jazz legends such as A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, Greg performed trumpet at local jazz clubs in his teenage years and together they traveled to Cuba’s Havana to study Afro-Cuban rhythm, music and culture. Greg went on to study jazz/classical at the Manhattan School of Music and worked with James Brown’s drummer and Lauryn Hill before touring with critically acclaimed indie band Beirut.
In 2006 Nick joined Greg in Brooklyn to begin experimenting with electronic music after they attended a Wolf + Lamb party that blew their minds.
Two years later, they met Zev and Gadi of Wolf + Lamb, and immediately began a very close musical and personal relationship. Consequently No Regular Play was born, stylistically touching on a wide range of influences focused around live instrumentation, which is also used in their live sets.
In 2008 they released the acclaimed “Blonde Juan” digital package and in 2009 the “Owe Me” ep was released as a 12” .
You can find No Regular Play in the booth or at the party, bartending at Wolf +Lamb and operating the vinyl presses and forklift at Brooklyn Phono. Currently they are working on a 25 minute piece for improvisation/ electronics to be performed with the Minnesota Orchestra in 2011.

San Francisco native Dave Aju has been producing and performing his unique brand of electronic dance music for nearly a decade. He seasons traditional elements of house and techno with a blend of outside musical influences, notably free jazz and p-funk, a low-slung aesthetic clearly rooted in hip-hop, and an organic sonic approach akin to Musique Concréte. The result is a consistently fresh and expressive sound, varying from raw and percussive to deep and melodic, that is favored by an ever-increasing number of listeners, dancers, DJs, and producers around the world. His in demand status has taken him from Moscow to Mexico City, the highly-respected MUTEK Festival, and has garnered support from a who's-who of forward-thinking peers, from hometown heroes Sutekh and Kit Clayton to the illustrious Matthew Herbert, who has recently commissioned Aju to release material on his Accidental label. His debut full-length on Circus Company, Open Wide, is currently causing a stir in the electronic music community with it's bold diversity of musical styles and the strict but effective use of only his mouth to construct it.
Sammy D (Love Letters, [KONTROL])

The colorful story of Sammy D begins in Northern Alaska, where he was raised in a cultish religious group and allowed to only listen to contemporary Christian music. As fate would have it, one momentous night in 1992 Sammy was exposed to the synergistic effects of LSD and "rave" music, and a new man was born. He picked up DJing, began collecting dance records of all genres, and eventually got sucked in by the booming yet technical sounds of drum & bass. Adopting the moniker Northernman, by the mid-'90s Sammy was DJing at clubs and raves throughout the West Coast, as well as hosting a successful jungle weekly and working at one of Portland's best dance record shops.
In 2000, Sammy headed south to San Francisco, where he was bitten by the tech-house bug and started playing odd-ball house and techno under his own name. A year later he started a monthly called Music First, and soon befriended Justin Martin, another fledgling house DJ with a backstory heavily rooted in drum & bass. The two began DJing together regularly, and their talent and injection of fresh energy into the scene was rewarded with a residency at the city's best and longest-running house weekly. The pair soon began producing highly original and refreshingly lighthearted music together, bringing a welcomed goofiness (and plenty of rumbly D&B samples) to a genre clearly needing a swift kick in the arse. From 2004 to 2005, Justin Martin and Sammy D put out several EPs on esteemed labels such as Classic, Buzzin' Fly, and Utensil, as well as the first two releases ever by an upstart label out of SF known as Dirtybird. They were named to URB magazine's "Next 100" for 2005.
As Sammy's unconventional DJ style continued to take definition, he found himself increasingly drawn to the heady minimalist sounds coming from Europe, incorporating ear-catching and occasionally head-scratching tracks into his sets that few other locals could get away with, let alone had the balls to play. In 2005, alongside friend and fellow "weird German shit" enthusiast Greg Bird, Sammy helped found [KONTROL], a monthly party and DJ crew focusing on the emerging new sound of techno. An enormous success from its first event, in the four years since [KONTROL] has established a worldwide reputation for quality in both featured performers and residents. Not one to be limited by a single musical style, Sammy also plays with the Magnificent Seven, a group known for rocking their wildly-popular parties with everything from hip-hop and house to classic rock and 60's soul.
Simply put, Sammy D is a man difficult to pigeonhole, but one who never ceases to amaze his fans and followers through his keen ear and unquenchable thirst for the new and exciting sounds. You never know precisely what you're going to get when he steps up to the decks, and of course that's half the fun. The one thing you can count on, though, is being thoroughly entertained by a true believer who always puts the music first
Christina Chatfield LIVE (AYLI, Beretta Grey, monocle)

Christina Chatfield is best known as one half of the live techno outfit Monocle, but she has recently began branching out with her own musical productions & performances. As a live act, Chatfield eschews traditional DJing in lieu of an entirely original performance. Having honed her craft from numerous live shows as Monocle (who have played alongside Michael Mayer, Matthew Dear, Ryan Elliott, Cassy, etc), Christina's live performance has evolved the static set of a club DJ limited by the preset forms of their records, into a dynamic performance rarely seen in dance music.
Raised by two classical musicians, with a professional concert bassist as a brother, it's not necessarily surprising that Chatfield decided to pursue music. Her choice of genre might seem something of an anomaly to her family, but that can be attributed to growing up in Ohio, just a car ride away from the heyday of Detroit's techno scene. The music she heard obviously left a lasting impression on her, as she went on to study sound synthesis and music in college. It was then that she met Monocle partner Danny Patterson (aka Coupler), and the two began producing
the ear- catching techno that would eventually lead its way
onto Nightlight Music, RacecarProductions and into every worthwhile club in the Bay area.
With her first solo vinyl release slated for Detroit label Beretta Grey and gigs on the books at home and abroad, 2010 looks to be a breakout year for Chatfield.

Rich Korach discovered underground electronic music in 1994, finally encountering the sound that would transform the rest of his life. Growing up just north of Detroit, Rich witnessed performances from some of the early pioneers of techno. Shortly after immersing himself in the underground warehouse scene in Detroit he became an active DJ himself. The next decade included such highlights as: being a resident DJ for Detroit’s legendary production company “Paxahau”, and gigs at: the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (2005 and 2008), Space in Ibiza, Berlin, and all across the U.S. Rich’s sets are characterized by elements of deep house and techno with a concentration on flawless mixing and excellent track selections. In 2008 Rich moved to San Francisco to expand his horizons and live in one of the most diverse cities the world has to offer. Since then his unique sets have been well received in the SF underground scene.

Music is greatly influenced by geography and the case of Mossmoss (Mattie Bowen) is no different. Mattie's world began in chilly Scotland; he now lives and loves in beautiful San Francisco, California. Techno is a natural extension of his creative life as he has spent many years in close proximity to the grit of Detroit. Heavily influenced by the grimy, sultry sounds of Detroit, Berlin and Chicago, he has taken that influence to the Bay Area and draws on The City and its colorful nightlife for inspiration.
Mossmoss has a number of releases and remixes on Racecar Productions based out of Cincinnati, Ohio and some soon to be released tracks on Nightlight music and Blipswitch Digital. Mattie's passion for art is delivered in visual form under the 'Nazomoss' moniker and he continues to develop his unique illustration and painting style. He has recently joined forces with Alland Byallo and Clint Stewart to bring you a monthly Nightlight Music showcase at the infamous 222 Hyde, every 4th Friday in San Francisco. Recently Mossmoss committed to quarterly one-off events as an As You Like It resident, along with Christina Chatfield, where you'll be guaranteed to hear his unique sound at various spots in the night.
Music by Mossmoss has been supported by: Brendan Moeller, Kyle Geiger, Derrick May, Laurent Garnier, Danny Tenaglia, Dave Clarke, Josh Wink, Dubfire, Ben Sims, Electric Indigo, DJ Yellow, Aaron-Carl, Lawnchair Generals, Noah Levine (XLR8R, Urb), Submerge 101, DJ Hyperactive, Phillip Sherburne, Terry Mullan, Alland Byallo, Andy Toth to name a few...
