BACKBONES is providing free One-on-One support for people with spinal cord injury and their families. We strive to build a peer network through telephone, in-person or web-based connections and encourage growth by the sharing of experiences and ideas.
As a host to events BACKBONES creates an inviting atmosphere where people can ask questions, learn from each other in an informal setting and make lasting friendships.
Race Day Information
Join us on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 8:30 am for the 2nd Annual BACKBONES 5K RUN, WALK n ROLL. This is a family affair where runners and walkers and rollers of all ages are welcome to participate for a very worthy cause. Bring your friends! Bring your grandma! Bring your kids! (Strollers are welcome.)
Cost:
$30 on or before Thursday, April 22, 2010.
$35 on Race Day and during Packet Pick-Up.
Students show us your ID and register for $20!
Children 12 and under accompanied by a parent may participate at no cost.
Parking:
Parking will be available at the School District 23 lots located on the corner of Palatine Rd. and Schoenbeck Rd. There will be a cross guard to safely escort participants across Palatine Rd.
Handicapped parking is available at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (304 W Palatine Road) and Country Gardens Park (901 N. Schoenbeck Rd.).
Gear Check:
BACKBONES volunteers will be checking items you cannot carry with you throughout the course. Do not check purses, wallets, phones or other valuable items. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Water/Food:
Water is provided at the main event site and the half-way mark. Pre-event refreshments and music will be available beginning at 7:00 a.m. Snacks will also be available as you finish the race.
First Aid:
There will be medical staff available at the main event site and the half-way mark. Please be cautious and responsible.
Wheelchair Access:
The course is completely paved as is the Country Garden’s park site. Wheelchair accessible portable toilets will be available.
Awards:
Medals will be awarded to the top three male, top three female, and top wheelchair finishers, at the post-race ceremony at Country Gardens Park.
Packet Pick-Up:
Friday, April 23rd, 12:00pm - 6:30 p.m. and
Saturday, April 24th,10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

T-shirts:
All pre-registered participants will receive an official 5K RUN, WALK n ROLL T-shirt.
Those who register on race day will receive T-shirts based on availability.

Walk-in:
Registration on Race Day starts at 7:00 a.m.
Registration will be available at the Gary Morava Center during Packet Pick-Up on April 23 and 24.
Walk-in Registration fees are $35 per person. Only cash and check will be accepted.
