For our next and final event, we are delighted to welcome Professor Ed Hopkins of Edinburgh University. He is an expert on the economic analysis of "happiness".
Research in this area has been motivated by a concern that money is not a good way of measuring economic outcomes so economists should embrace broader notions of well-being - that incorporate rank and status. This raises the possibility that well-being may well depend on one's position in society relative to other people. This idea has broad consequences for policy.
