Last year we raised money for medical supplies for a team going to Sudan and this year we're taking it a step further and raising funds to help build an entire hospital. We'll be hosting our June DFAC event at Vessel for the House of Hope Hospital to serve the people of Yei in Sudan.
Since its founding in 2001, Harvesters has grown to serve more than 170 orphans and more than 500 school children in Southern Sudan. This organization is now establishing a hospital in response to the severe health care needs in the area. Due to open in January 2011, House of Hope Hospital will provide surgical, inpatient, and outpatient care, as well as training and education for women and their children. It will be a free standing maternal and child health care center in Yei, focusing on the care of pregnant women and children up to age 18 and aiming to provide round the clock medical care to those in need. The chief medical goals are to reduce the occurrence of childhood deaths from preventable and treatable diseases and improve pregnancy outcomes for women by providing critically needed care before, during, and after pregnancy.
ALL 100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly towards construction of House of Hope Hospital. We'll be collecting a minimum suggested donation of $5 at the door, but please donate as much as you can to this important cause. A portion of the bar tab will also be donated to the cause, so drink up!
