DÓNALL DEMPSEY
believes that a poem is meant to be seen but that it should also be heard. . .poetry is an oral/aural experience. It is also a shared experience. . .the audience is the last completion of the poem and the next new beginning. Donal has read all across London and with John Cooper Clarke and Paul Durcan on Irish television. He has made two radio programmes for RTE. As the RTE GUIDE so succinctly put it: “the only way to read a Donal Dempsey poem is to have it performed by the author.”
Donal had stopped writing and performing for many a long year but a recent head injury and paralysis caused him to confront this lapse and resume the mantle of poet. He is now manfully working his way from one to the other.
