Recently we noticed little pocket neighborhoods sprouting up throughout the city worthy of individual celebration. We named them “microhoods” just for the heck of it, and over 400 of you came out to celebrate a small block in the Mission back in March.
This time, Folsom Street between 7th and 8th caught our eye. From leather to lattes and bike repair to beer, it’s become a destination for neighbors and city folk alike. Raise a glass with The Bold Italic and meet the microhood!
micro · hood - n. A piece of a neighborhood, perhaps only a block or two large, so glorious that it deserves its own name; i.e. FolSoMa is a shining example of a microhood.
Bar cum hunting lodge BLOODHOUND will be serving up cocktail specials, and with Bulleit Bourbon as a sponsor, it’s sure to be a good time. Check out Big Buck Hunter while you’re at it and do your darndest not to shoot any does.
You’ll find complimentary beer from Firestone Brewery (while supplies last) and half-off wine on the back patio of TRIPTYCH. The DJ will spin while you watch live painting out front, and a gourmet menu of small plates for sale will keep your boozy stomach satiated.
Newcomer to the block, RADIUS, will host a mouth-watering happy hour with oysters (just $5 for three Hog Islands) and a special selection of wines. You can grab a bite in the cafe and get a sneak preview of their gorgeous new restaurant space.
GAMA-GO will be offering complimentary beer from Firestone Brewery (while supplies last), 15% off everything in the store, and discounts on their limited edition toys. They'll also be giving away a free, limited edition, GAMA-GO book with all purchases over $100.
The fine beer purveyors at CITY BEER STORE will be playing host to a few of your favorite street carts – including Adobo Hobo and Bike Basket Pies – and offering a flight of their favorite seasonal brews for just $5.
SIGHTGLASS COFFEE will stay open late so you can pick up a perfect , hand-crafted espresso. The roasters themselves will be there themselves to say hello, answer your nerdy coffee questions, and give you a peek at their beautiful behemoth of a roaster. The CREME BRULEE CART will be parked outside.
Last but not least, look out for the HUBBA HUBBA REVUE & BOMBSHELL BETTY burlesque troupe who will be out and about with some surprising guerilla street performances.
But wait! There's more (if you can believe it). Pick up a FolSoMa event map to find other stops and activities.
THE EVENT IS FREE but PLEASE RSVP so we can get a count of how many are coming. Supplies are limited but the fun is not.
