As long-time BAGeL Radio listeners know, we love The National. We love their stuff from before "Alligator" made a few influential music types take notice, and now we have our grubby little hands on "High Violet," their first album since "Boxer" landed the band on so many "bands of the decade" lists. It will take a few dozen more listens to determine where this album ranks, but suffice it to say "High Violet"" does not disappoint. And this despite our mammoth expectations for The National's follow-up to three of our favorite albums of the 2000s. We'll be debuting some new National songs for you today during "480 Minutes," along with new music from The Dead Weather (Nashville, TN), The Futureheads (Sunderland, England), LCD Soundsystem (Brooklyn, NY), Pearly Gate Music (Seattle, WA), The Poison Control Center (Ames, IA), Resplandor (Lima, Peru), The Salteens (Vancouver, Canada), The Slow Poisoners (San Francisco, CA), and Statuesque (London, England).
