Women are present and accounted for across the new media and tech space -- just not at the top, or on panels, or at conferences, or in magazine articles...or, crucially, in VC money. What's keeping women from rising to the very top of every sector of our industry? It can't just be coding - Gary Vaynerchuk makes videos about wine. No, the problem is not with women or their ideas or aptitudes - but there is a problem with the ratio. And we want to get to the bottom of why that is -- and change it. Why does tech feel like such a boy's club? What are guys doing differently than girls? How can women do more to make their ideas happen? How can we gently tell those people running conferences that 4 white-guy keynotes could maybe be improved upon? And how can we encourage cross-gender mentorship that lets the talent truly rise for the very best of our industry? These are just a few of the questions we'll address, with the goal of getting a whole lot more women into the workplace, as a first step to change.
