For those of you not in the know, Caves Ouvertes is a day when all of the vineyards in the canton of Genève open their doors so that we may taste their wares. It's a lovely date out full of friendship and wine, what more can you ask for?
The official word:
Known as ‘Caves Ouvertes’ in French, this annual event is when the wine made from the previous autumn’s harvest is put on the market. Some 100 wineries are open for tasting...
Transport
Geneva’s public transport system TPG, a sponsor of the anniversary event, is providing free shuttle service every 20 minutes between wine villages.
Right Bank: free shuttle bus service between La Plaine, Dardagny, Essertines, Les Baillets, Peissy, Satigny, Choully, Bourdigny, Taboret, Noirettes and Russin. From Cornavin main train station in Geneva City, passengers can take the RER to Satigny and transfer to a shuttle there.
Left Bank: free shuttle bus service between Vésenaz, Collonge-Bellerive, Anières, Corsier, Meinier, Merlinge, Gy, Jussy, Choulex and Carré d'Aval.
Passengers coming from Geneva City can take the E (Vésenaz) bus out from Rive. Departure times for shuttle buses is every 20 minutes between 10:30AM and 6:30PM.
