Drogheda’s streets will once again fill with Music over the June Bank Holiday Weekend with the Second Beat on the Boyne Festival in association with Scotch Hall and giverdiesel productions. A great opportunity everyone and especially familiies and the young people of the town to experience, perform and celebrate in the musical and artistic talents of the Boyne Valley together.
The Beat on the Boyne Concert will feature original acts and cover bands with more than 15 local acts including performing including such luminaries as
The Albaquirkey Turkey’s, Huey & the Hobgoblins, Geriko, The Enemies,
Juicer, Niall Boyle,Super Turbo Ninja Club, Bad Sneakers, Banned Substance,
Bróg, Strange Glue, After the Explosions and Reggies Corner, Donal Quinn,
Kevin Sheridan - Loop Set as well Drogeda's youngest band The Rock n' Roll Lovin' Aliens.
Spinnig the disks between acts will be External Sounds DJs - Who have have top international DJ Norman J playingin the Purple Room later on that night.
Sunday at Scotch Hall is a family day out with lots of entertainment planned for all ages featuring The Rock-Lookalike Fancy Dress Competition with prizes and vouchers from Scotch Hall @ 4pm. There will also be face-painting, food and art on the day. Weather-permitting , it is hoped to create a community art installation with the participation of Nexus Arts and members of the public.
The Bars, Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants are also taking part in the Beat on the Boyne Festival here in Drogheda and there will be many Unplugged and Open Mic Sessions in some unusual venues.
The Beat on the Boyne Festival celebrates the vast musical talent of the town of Drogheda. We aim to provide a platform for developing this talent and to ensure that there is opportunity, recognition and encouragement for all of Drogheda’s community to become involved in music and the performing arts.
