OpenMusicMedia is a meetup that takes place irregularly all over the world, from London to New York to Toronto. And now Los Angeles. It's an informal gathering of all sorts of people interested in all things music, technology, the web and related media. We talk about anything that interests us, quite often about different innovations in and around the music industry. Previous guest speakers include Daniel Ek (Spotify), Joi Ito (Creative Commons), Eric Wahlforss (SoundCloud), Anthony Volodkin (The Hype Machine) and many more besides.
This is the first event in Los Angeles and although there's no particular topic or one guest speaker set this time the theme is around new digital artist tools. What are the essentials parts of an artist's toolkit? How much can an artist or manager do by themselves using these new services? What tools can be used for free? What role does tech have to play in all this? Those are some of the questions we might be debating amongst ourselves.
It's open and free to anyone who wants to join us in the pub! So spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. We'll be joined by Dave Haynes (SoundCloud), Jesse von Doom (CASH Music), Ian Rogers (Topspin Media) and Michael Schneider (Mobile Roadie). Expect lots of interesting chat over plenty of good beer :)
