Hello CopyNighters!
Public Knowledge has been a steady friend to our band of copyright nerds and has offered to host us this month for the first time at their new offices. The nearest metro station is still Dupont Circle but they are now South down Connecticut, off of N Street, NW. They have generously offered us refreshments, too, so please go to their event page and RSVP to help them get a solid head count. The gathering, as always, is open to the public, the RSVP is solely for logistics.
We’re also starting a bit earlier than usual to accommodate a showing of Brett Gaylor’s file, “RiP: A Remix Manifesto“.
6:00PM Intro to PK and new office
6:07PM RiP
7:30PM (c) discussion (what the new Limewire ruling means) with Sherwin Siy
8:00PM Close
I am sure we’ll have time to discuss some of the other interesting copyright stories over the last month. No doubt ASCAP’s and NAMP’s antics are top of mind and would be appropriate for a discussion held at one of the “ASCAP Three”.
