Stanford University is hosting the European Commission on Wed July 21 at the Faculty Club for an Information Event which will present the EC's Space Research Programme, and discuss opportunities for US companies and universities to apply for EC funding under the upcoming Call for Proposals due to be issued later this month.
NOTE: this is *not the European Space Agency (ESA)*, but a new and totally separate govt space organization now emerging on the European scene...the European Commission is based in Brussels.
This Information Event will discuss the content and objectives of the EC space programme as well as the topics of the upcoming Call for Proposals, which this year will focus on innovative propulsion and space transportation technologies, robotic exploration, Cubesats, mitigation of impacts from Near Earth Objects, and exploitation of the vast amount of data from space missions.
Total available funding for this upcoming Call is 20-30 Mn Euros, with project funding in the range of 500K - 4 Mn Euros over a three year period, which must be shared between the European and US partners; there is a certain requirement for matching of EU funds. Most US organizations are eligible to receive EU grant funds under this programme. The EU Space Research Programme is organized, funded and operated separately from the European Space Agency (ESA).
