Amigos—Apologies for being MIA for the last 9 months—I am just emerging from a time-warp, as my life got monopolized by preparations for what evolved into the world’s first International Grenache Symposium. It started as cute mini pow wow at La Verriere, to figure out why Grenache, the most widely planted red grape in the world, is so appreciated by wine professionals and so unknown to wine consumers… it ended up a a gi-normous hairy beast—a “G-22” summit with 270n wine professionals from 22 countries! (more on this on
www.grenachesymposium.com ). Anyway, after many sleepless nights and against all odds, it all came together, and it was really fun to be part of such a groundswell of enthusiasm for what many consider “the unsung hero of the wine world”. This great guy Don made a short but sweet YouTube video of our exploits and all the great initiatives that came out of it: (

The next big excitement is International Grenache Day, aka Friday Sept 24th. If you like Grenache or want to get to know it better, put on a loud shirt and head down to your favorite restaurant, bar or wineshop for some Grenache therapy (details on the website). Please help me spread the word!
