The Washington, DC IT community has been involved for several years in building homes and community centers in Nicaragua with the non-profit organization Bridges to Community. This is our third fundraiser to help raise money for the structures we build during our trip every January. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and needs our help. The location of the event on October 6th is the Top of the Town in Arlington. The view of Capitol from this space alone is worth the price of the ticket!
You can purchase tickets online at
www.bridgestocommunity.org/dc
$50 now or $60 at the door. Space is limited, so don't wait to buy your ticket!
The evening will include wine, beer, Nicaraguan rum, Latin American hors d'oeuvres, great Silent Auction items and a DJ to dance the night away. Plus, you can enter a raffle that would cover the cost of a Bridges to Community trip fee, valued at $1,295.00 (airfare separate)! The past two winners have spent a week in Nicaragua with friends and family and have had a great experience helping a family move from a primitive shelter into a permanent home, made from concrete block, with doors & windows that lock, a tile floor and a roof that does not leak.
Can't make it on the 6th? Please consider making a donation towards the two houses we are scheduled to build next January. $50.00 helps us buy the windows we need, $100 buys a new door, $500 buys the roof, $1,000 pays for the concrete blocks and $3,500 buys the entire house!
