October 11th is National Coming Out Day here in the United States of America.
If you are Gay, Bisexual, Lesbian or Transgender and you are not out; this is your day to admit the truth and Come Out.
If you are out, use this day to help a "Family" member Come Out. Be supportive and be by their side. Be that friend!
If you are str8 and you know someone that is not out, use this day to help them come out. Be supportive.
If you know someone that is out, be sure to tell them that you love them and you thank them for telling you about that part in their life.
We, as Americans, need to show everyone that it is OK to be who you are.
In September alone, we lost 9 Gay Teens between the ages 13 to 19 years old to Suicide due to being Bullied/Harrassed for being GLBT. Please keep them, their family, loved ones & friends in your thoughts & praryers. Have your voice heard LOUD AND CLEAR to the School Admins & Teachers to stop the bullies in our schools! How many more livesare we going to lose? Silence = Suicide!!!
I lost a few friends over the years of different ages that has commited suicide for being Gay and they were bullied/harrassed in different ways. I have also mentored younger generations of acceptance ...as well.
The one that hits home for me the most, was in 1997. My Middle & High School girlfriend Victoria Turcot lost her best friend & neighbor, Casey, because he was bullied & harrassed from our school mates.
We are now in 2010, we need to stand up and get parents to open their eyes and be more accountable for their child's actions as most children take the cues from their parents.
Thank you!
