For those of you who do not know, on March 28, 2010, Long Tran suffered traumatic brain injury as the result of a snowboarding accident. He remained in a coma for several weeks, and is now in a vegetative state. Long is currently at Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital, where he takes part in speech, occupational, and physical therapy everyday. Although Long's prognosis from his doctors was initially very poor, he continues to make small improvements daily and has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
As a Salem High and UMASS graduate, Long has always led by example as an active member of the community through service programs, teen health initiatives, sports teams and peer leadership. Perhaps most notably, Long has always been able to move and motivate others through his eloquence.
The Salem community has always been remarkable in its ability to come together - at a time when Long can’t speak for himself, we are speaking on his behalf and asking for your support.
On Saturday, November 13th please join us at the Howling Wolf Taqueria, a new restaurant in the heart of downtown Salem, as we celebrate Long and the strength and courage he shows us every single day as he fights to heal. All proceeds from this event will go towards medical and other expenses for Long.
