The Consulate General of Brazil in San Francisco presents an exhibition of photographer Jason Gardner’s work documenting the music, dance, culture and ritual of Carnaval in the northeastern state of Pernambuco. “Images of Pernambuco” will take you to a world of dance, colors and music, within the realm of the Afro-Brazilian cultural experience.
Jason will be attending the exhibit’s opening Wednesday, November 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Brazilian Consulate. There will also be live Brazilian music. The show will continue from November 11 through February 11, 2011 during the Consulate’s usual hours, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
“We’re thrilled with Jason’s most recent photographs,” said Deputy Consul General Evaldo Freire. “We have followed his work for several years, and his photographs take us to a world of discovery – full of surprises and striking beauty. His passion for Pernambuco’s distinctive music and dance, combined with a selective eye, has produced an artist’s collection of documentary images.”
