The October Geek Dinner is a few short days away, and we’re going to be switching things up a little this month:
1. First, we’ll be taking over the bar and performance space at the excellent Firehouse 13 on Providence’s West Side. Nice.
2. Shelter – check. Drink – check. Ah right, we need food… Ivan and the other kind folks at Haven Brothers have agreed to park their awesome catering rig right outside the Firehouse. Sweet.
3. Last – but certainly not least – we need a killer presenter to make the evening… I got it: Josh Clark of Global Moxie – Bingo – one of the most talented, not to mention nicest, new-ish additions to Providence’s burgeoning tech-meets-design scene.
As always, for first-timers here are the details on the Geek Dinners:
* The event itself is FREE! Beverages and food will be available as per usual.
* It’s totally casual. Wear whatever, bring whoever, arrive and take off whenever! And don’t worry about eating or not – come famished or full – eating is optional, and frankly, the least of the festivities (that’s not say the food isn’t good – it’s actually great)
* Topics of conversation will vary as they will at any gathering of geeks, but many of us will be talking about AJAX, mash-ups, start-ups, new devices, innovative business models, interaction design, social computing, digital art, web services, etc. etc. etc.
* There is Wi-Fi so bring your connected device of choice.
