We are projecting that we will pass the 100,000 book milestone for Beers for Books sometime between November 20 - 27, which coincides with the traditional U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. What better time to pause and give thanks to the amazing growth of Beers for Books in support of Room to Read?
B4B was launched in February 2009 and since then we've had 144 events in 6 countries around the world, and we've only just begun.
It really is time to say thanks and be thankful. We'll be focusing on:
1) Being thankful for one’s own literacy and sharing it with others.
2) Celebrating the 100,000 book milestone
3) Thanking all the thousands of individuals who have helped B4B get to 100k (venue owners, event organizers, attendees, etc.)
We'd like to start by thanking every single member of the Facebook Beers for Books group page. Simply expressing your interest in what we're doing on Facebook is a huge support for the Beers for Books "movement" and helps us to get the word out about how simple and fun B4B is. Thank You.
As of today, we're on 88,662 books with a bunch of events planned between now and November 20th. To get to 100K during that week, I'd like YOU to consider having an event at your favorite bar/restaurant sometime between November 20th - 27th. Big, small, it doesn't matter--every single book makes an impact on children in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and South Africa.
We'll list all the events for the week of Nov. 20-27 here. And will have them up as FB event pages ASAP. Any help you could provide in getting something going in your city/town would be awesome and we'll be sure to let everyone know when we hit 100K. Thank you again for your support!
