Hello everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that we're having another Taipei Tech Club meetup this Friday to celebrate our 2-year anniversary. It was around this time back in 2008 that we had our first get together at the Brass Monkey. Tim H., Cameron, Lars, Alex, myself [Spencer] and a few others got together for dinner and beers after realizing there are a fair number of us working in the tech scene in Taiwan.
There were only about 8 or 9 of us then, but now our email list has over 140 people [our Facebook page has over 260 members, nearly 100 followers on Twitter and LinkedIn group has over 80]. Since then we've been meeting every 6 weeks or so, and it's been great making new friends, having drinks, and sharing ideas and news about what's going on in the industry.
...and the next 2 years?
To be honest, our ambitions aren't very high. If we can continue having these gatherings from time to time have a drink and a chat, that would be good. However, there are two areas that we'd like to improve.
1) Upgrade these lame-o bcc emails and organize a proper newsletter to send out to everyone.
2) Include any recent job postings in the newsletter to help our members find good jobs, and companies find good people.
Any other tips or suggestions are welcome as well.
So this Friday we'll get together for drinks. 2 years = 2 bars = mini pub crawl.
Q Bar First
First, we've organized burgers and beers at Q Bar. Some say they have the best burgers in town and I'd have to agree. If you're with the Tech Club you get a free Tiger beer with your burger and happy hour drink prices all night.
