Be Part of Mashadi History and the Advancement of Medicine by Joining the Mapping of the Jewish Genome Project!
Secure a healthier future for yourselves, your children and generations to come and learn more about your origins/ancestry.
This study is a collaborative effort by New York University Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Sheba (Tel Hashomer) Medical Center in Israel.
Now they are coming to the Mashadi community to study our genes!
What are the benefits?
By participating in this study it will allow us to:
• Gain a much better understanding about the origins of our community and how we are related to the other Jewish communities in the world, (this also includes knowing if we descended from the Davidic Dynasty, Mordechai hatzadick and Aharon hakohen. Also find out if we descended from the Assyrian or Babylonian diaspora).
• We will also be able to know the frequency and prevalence of certain diseases that are common among Iranian Jews and may directly affect our community. Such diseases include certain genetic diseases as well as more common diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
• By identifying the diseases/conditions that we as a community are at increased risk for, we can then take measures to prevent them from occurring.
• With this knowledge more personalized treatments and therapies can also be developed in the future to tailor to our community.
Who can participate?
All community members of Mashadi descent that are of age
18 years and over.
What are the requirements?
All that is required is to:
*fill out a short confidential questionnaire
*sign a consensus form and
*give a small blood sample
