"Solar Eagle Taking Flight" - RAIN or SHINE!
Promoting Global Climate Solutions from Earth to Sky
BE PART OF FIRST-EVER LIVE ART SATELLITE PHOTO EVENT
International Aerial Art Innovator, John Quigley/Spectral Q, in collaboration with 350.org, will create a mixed media installation at The Cornfields in Los Angeles Historic State Park this Sunday, November 21, 2010.
The installation will form the shape of a ‘Solar Eagle Taking Flight', combining solar photovoltaic film sheets accented with up to 1000 people.
Angelenos will meet at The Cornfields at Los Angeles Historic State Park 9:45am SHARP, and will co-create a magnificent image of a golden eagle flying from the sun to show that people from all backgrounds are ready to rise together and seize the power of the sun to fight climate change. A satellite that's currently orbiting Earth with snap a photo of our soaring eagle -- which will then be shared with media and politicians all over the globe.
John shares his vision for the event:
“For over 200 years the eagle has been a symbol of America. The Solar Eagle represents an America based on a clean green energy economy. As the Solar Eagle takes flight, so too will our prosperity.”

DETAILS:
We're participating in '350 eARTh' - the world’s first-ever global climate art project. From November 20-28, in 20 cities across the globe, citizens and artists will create massive public art installations to show how climate change is already impacting our world as well as offer visions of how we can solve the crisis. Each art installation will be large enough to be seen from space and documented by satellites generously provided by DigitalGlobe, Inc.
350 EARTH will be a global scale group show on the front line of climate change – our polluted cities, endangered forests, melting glaciers, and sinking coastlines. People around the world are invited to take part by attending signature events, submitting their own art, and spreading the word about the project.
350 EARTH will take place on the eve of the next United Nations climate meetings in Cancun, Mexico where delegates will work to create an international climate treaty. Our politicians have all the facts, figures, and graphs they need to solve the climate crisis. What they lack is the will. 350 EARTH will demonstrate the massive public support for bold climate action and the role that art can play in inspiring humanity to take on our greatest challenge: protecting the planet on which we live.
