Musae presents its seventh annual holiday concert, sharing the season with audiences in two venues in the Bay Area. Nativities celebrates the image of mother and child with Musae's return to some of the most treasured pieces in the women's choral repertoire and new explorations of the mysteries of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Revel in the Romantic sonorities of settings of "Ave Maria" by Holst and Fauré, as well as Duruflé's "Tota Pulchra Es," the plaintive sounds of voices with a quartet of viols, and the otherworldly mystery of chant and polyphony. Savor the comforting warmth of lullabies old and new by Dvořák and Whitacre, a jazzy "Rock-a-bye Baby," and the classic "Baby Mine." And feel the festive spirit of the season as we close the concert with vocal jazz tunes and new arrangements of holiday favorites, "O Holy Night" and "Auld Lang Syne."
Tickets: $10-$25.
