Description: This 7 day course will give a thorough introduction to Northern Style Thai Yoga Massage. As in Thailand, the teaching will take place in a series of demonstrations, followed by guided practice, in which new material is experienced and experimented. The aim of the teaching team will be to give the complete beginner a good foundation in thai yoga massage, with special emphasis on correct posture, ergonomic use of body weight, and the integration of yogic and spiritual principles in the massage work. For those students who are more advanced in their thai massage practice, the teachers will aim to give complimentary advanced guidance during practice time. Both members of the team, Bali and Zoltan, are assistant teachers of the Sunshine Network (
www.thaiyogamassage.infothai.com). This community of massage teachers follows the traditions and principles of the late Asokananda, who first started the teaching of thai yoga massage as a conscious extension of buddhist vipassana and metta meditation. In this way, massage becomes a practice of loving kindness and equanimity, teaching both giver and receiver.
Bali: Born and based in Budapest, Hungary, Bali received his university degree in English language and literature. Realizing that the classroom environment is not for him, he travelled and worked in different countries and professions until finding thai yoga massage in 1999. Immersion in the Northern style followed, with extensive training with the living masters of the style in Chiang Mai, namely Chongkol, Asokananda, Laurino, Pichet and Takys. As an assistant teacher of Asokananda's Sunshine Network since 2006, he practices yoga, vipassana and metta meditation, and gives teaching in thai yoga massage (beginners and advanced levels), herbal compresses, massage without hands, and therapeutic applications of thai yoga massage.
