The deadline for registration is January 8th 11:59pm. It's still okay to come if you have not registered by this date, but you won't be able to get food.
As leaders of tomorrow, we recognize it is important to “Listen to the Silence,” to recognize the invisibility of Asian American issues. However, we feel it is equally important to “Answer the Call.” After educating ourselves about the injustices and issues that are salient and pervasive in the Asian American community, we become responsible for effectively responding to these inequities. We need to listen, learn, and actively engage the Asian American voice. Consequently, we empower not only ourselves, but also others to take active roles in their lives and communities. Whether through science or art, the lab or the novel, Asian Americans have, can, and will make an impact. Through Listen to the Silence: Answer the Call, we hope you will not only leave with a greater awareness about the Asian American community and its struggles, but also with the passion, skills, and resources to make intentional and positive change.
Talk to a neighbor, ask a panelist a question, join a mailing list. There are so many avenues and opportunities be involved. The things you learn and the networks you create do not end today. We are all connected to one another through our experiences and our hope for a stronger and more unified Asian American community. Therefore, we should count on calling each other in times of success or struggle.
There is always a call for support. The question is:
Are you going to answer it?
