Bringing together local musicians the Troubadours has created a solid reputation for bringing some of the most talented musicians to the local stages. For over 5 years running, the Troubadours’ events have been an outlet for songwriters to showcase their work in the Boulder and Denver areas. Since the inception of the collective, great artists have performed at the events bringing artists such as Gregory Alan Isakov, to the forefront of the music scene.
On January 7, 2011 Troubadours will ignite the music world once again with a special performance by Dechen Hawk and members of Supercollider, Jeb Bows, Ramaya Soskin, and more. An eclectic collective; from jazz to folk, to rock, the night will be full of various styles and musicianship that is unwavering.
Artists of the Night:
Dechen Hawk: "Like Stevie Wonder and Jeff Buckley thrown in a blender." -Bryan Beller, Dethklok
The neo-soul, pop-noir sound of this Boulder native is catching the eye and ears of the music scene. A fearless composer, singer, and performer, Hawk has been performing for the past 15 years, sharing the bill with such legends as Bruce Hornsby, Leon Russell, R.E.M., Ty Burhoe, Ron Miles, and the Fun Lovin' Criminals. Music credits for television/film/radio include the Swedish documentary "No Artificial Anything," the independent film "Don Juan's Diary," reality TV's "What's Your Problem?" and KGNU radio's "Jazz & Beyond." Dechen was also a finalist at the 2003 NCSC Songwriter's Competition.
Ramaya Soskin: Founder of Troubadours, Ramaya Soskin’s good ear has brought together some of the best musicians in the local scene. With his own eclectic musicianship, Soskin pushes the boundaries of songwriting, testing traditional rock with sultry ballads and delicate lullabies that are certain to leave the listener eager for more. Ramaya’s unwavering ability to create influential music has led to his performing with a variety of musicians and bands, including Devotchka, The Fray, Ian Cooke, The Czars and many more.
WadiRum: Songs that build a crescendo with lush harmony, warm bass and cello, with testing drums that move from subtle to explosive, WadiRum’s members create a musical melting pot that highlight the strengths of each performer. Using their full-range dynamics and evocative lyrics, this band has a fresh sound that catches the ear at first beat.
Max Davies: Musician Max Davies' second record “Totems” (2010) has been praised for its
vocal strength by John Frusciante and for its production quality by Josh Klinghoffer. Additionally, Totems features music that was used by fashion label Jovovich-Hawk and appears in seminal LA director Dick Rude’s filmQuit. He also released an electronic EP earlier the same year entitled “Both And.”
Gasoline Lollipops: Get ready to tap your toe, shake your fanny, and enjoy the move-about tunes created by this simply irresistible band. Members Clay Rose, Ken Campbell, Johnny Mouser, and Jeb Bows bring to the stage a folk-rock performance that is sure to make the audience move.
Mortimer: During the seasons between winter 2009 thru summer 2010 the sounds and spirit herein where recorded for posterity in the state of New York. Live tracking on the cloud banks of the Hudson River in Garrison. Overdubs in a haunted train station near new paltz. mixing in an adirondack cabin outside of woodstock.
