Join us on January 22, 2011 for the Celebration of Love and Joy, a party, an auction and your jumpstart on Valentine’s Day. This year we are raising funds for three IMPORTANT causes; the benefit will primarily support the Joy Nordenstrom Medical Fund, along with Pinups for Purpose and Site & Sound, both local nonprofits. Attendees can dance, shop and celebrate.
Health care costs in America are on the minds of many. Especially for those who have made the leap from corporate positions to branch out and start their own companies in these challenging economic conditions. The out-of-pocket expenses for independent health coverage can be so great as to change the course of one’s life. What happens when a small business owner is diagnosed with a major illness such as a brain tumor? Is it a given that she/he must also face the death of their vision, years of hard work and the foundation that has been established?
Joy Nordenstrom, a local entrepreneur and owner of Joy of Romance, Inc., has several medical challenges this year, including a brain tumor that required a life-altering 10-hour surgery. Happy to be on the other side of the stress of 2010, Joy has survived and after three months of recouping she will be ready to celebrate her physical ability to smile, an ability that was threatened by the removal of the tumor. In the business of helping individuals create passionate and thriving relationships, Joy works to make the world a more loving place. She is now asking for the love and support of her friends and colleagues to tackle some looming medical expenses.
Combining forces with two of Joy’s favorite local nonprofits — Pinups for Purpose, and Site & Sound — this evening will be a fabulous way to support artists, entrepreneurs and women surviving life-threatening illnesses. Additionally, we will be promoting some fabulous vendors to inspire everyone in attendance to get sexy, creative and have fun on Valentine’s Day.
So how can you be involved in the Celebration of Love and Joy?
• Attend the party and invite your friends
• Become a sponsor (sponsorships available for the venue, catering, alcohol, music)
• Become a vendor (whether you are a service or product provider set up shop at the venue and continue to sell to the attendees up till Valentine’s Day, with a Celebration of Love and Joy discount code, and gain exposure to many new clients)
• Donate an item for the live or silent auction
• Donate something for the raffle
• Donate items for the gift bags
Our Nonprofits:
Pinups for Purpose (http://pinupsforpurpose.com) raises funds for breast cancer charities by producing an annual pinup girl calendar. The calendar also supports the models in reclaiming themselves while embracing their new self-image. It inspires and directly benefits others with similar challenges and informs the public about fund raising events throughout the Bay Area.
Site & Sound (www.siteandsoundinfo.org) provides grants that educate, encourage and support the arts. They also provide educational opportunities focusing on the business of the arts and creating artistic content. They are a 501 (c)(3) and their tax id is 26-2441091.
