Making his very welcome return to Brighton following the staggeringly beautiful performance at St. Georges Church, Sam Beam, better know as Iron and Wine, takes to the stage with his highly anticipated latest release, Kiss Each Other Clean.
Many fell in love with Iron and Wine when Beam's tender and spare rendering of The Postal Service's 'Such Great Heights' appeared on the Garden State soundtrack, those who dug deeper discovered a classic American tune smith with a precocious musical signature. Songs like 'Lion's Mane,' 'Jesus the Mexican Boy' and 'Naked as We Came' are remarkable demonstrations of craft; musically memorable, lyrically evocative and casually atmospheric.
Rarely do singer songwriters create such an ethereal atmosphere as Beam invokes through the band's live performances. This Texan troubadour has enchanted audiences across the globe with his combination of rich instrumentation and haunting melodies with intensely beautiful lyrics, drawing upon human relationships, nature and nurture, life and death.
Since 2002, Beam has released three full-length albums, a collection of EPs and singles, plus the collaborative In the Reins EP with Calexico.
An incredibly prolific songwriter, Sam has built each album from a wealth of recorded material, which includes 2007's critically acclaimed The Shepherd's Dog and the further release in 2009 of the B-sides and rarities album, Around The Well. Iron and Wine's song 'Flightless Bird, American Mouth' was also recently featured on the best-selling soundtrack to the movie Twilight.
