This Saturday: Join Mikl-em at his local! (with special guest tentacle man, Scott Beale)
As you may know, I dumped Carol Bartz just before Christmas. Cruel, I know, but she’ll get over it. She’s even paying me a bit of alimony; it’s a strange world, boys & girls. But after 7 years, it’s refreshing not to have a 5-day-a-week appointment in Sunnyvale (or Burbank, for that matter). Someday I will break myself of writing a "!" after Yahoo's name, but the branding of branding dies slow, hard.
So I’ve embarked on a very short term retirement program. This includes
1) getting in a bit better shape (I’m thinking rhomboid)--I bought a bike and I’m throwing the cats around (especially the big one: feline medicine ball!).
2) getting some creative projects going--consider my dance card open: writing? acting? voiceover-based anarchy? we should talk.
3) better appreciating my awesome neighborhood, The Excelsior.
To the end of #3: The Broken Record, a little known pub of genius that's the best bar in our hood by a mile.
On Geneva near Mission, this ex-taqueria has a back porch (only open til 9pm), fine pub food, and an AMAZING whiskey selection at shockingly low prices (I thank low rent in these parts). In fact they are the only bar in SF that has whiskey "on tap" (more details:

AND if that all weren't enough (it never is), my pal and likely yours Scott Beale is out here for a few days. So I'm squidnapping him and throwing him in the hatchback. He will be on display for the limited time of 7:30ish to 2AM before he returns to his East Coast habitat.
Come wish me luck, shake your head, get keywords for that Linked-In writeup you're going to do for me, pitch me on the rock opera libretto you need written, or just swill bourbon and nag Scott to do his award-winning impersonation of the Statue of Liberty.
I’ll get back to work soon enough (too soon!). But in the meantime, if you can make it, come out and knock a few impermanent pension cocktails back with me.
