A total solar eclipse will take place in Australia on Nov. 14th 2012.

The city of Cairns is in the umbra of the eclipse and the general area to the north of the city is probably the best observation location on the mainland.

The totality is at 6:39 am local time, (20:39 UT), the sun will be 14 ° from the horizon and the duration is 02m04s.

Formed from a collaboration of crews from around the world the 2012 Eclipse festival in Cairns will be an explosion of music, art and culture.

Eclipse 2012 is a collaboration of some of the best known event organisers from around the globe, including Rainbow Serpent Festival (Australia), Symbiosis Gathering (USA) and Glade Festival (UK) plus support from other well known crews.

This music, arts, and healing festival will go for seven days between the 10th and 16th of November 2012, with the eclipse itself happening early in the morning
of the 14th. The location is in the very North of Australia, with the closest city being Cairns.

With the eclipse occurring during the auspicious year of 2012, approximately one month before the long awaited end of the Mayan calendar cycle, there will be a strong focus on holistic healing, arts and community.

You can expect to see some of the biggest musicians from around the world covering the styles of trance, progressive, techno, dub, electro-crunk, glitch, reggae, gypsy, ambient and everything in between. There will also be a full healing and arts program offering workshops, guest speakers, massage, an arts gallery, kids space, and more.
