A Brief History of Love and Poetry:
This song cycle for Baritone and Mezzo Soprano explores how love changes over the course of a lifetime, as well as how it's been expressed through history. These settings of poems span from the mid 1800s through the late 20th century, and draws upon a similar timespan of musical influences: rhapsodic nocturnes, angular neoclassicism, jazz, and ragtime.
String Quartet No. 1
A three movement work of widely varying character. The first movement is a brisk dance-like celebration, the second an extended Tango verging on a nervous breakdown, and the last movement a buzzing whirlwind that escapes dark undertones to reach a sparkling finale.

Selections from an work in progress, a solo opera that follows the lives of three characters as they all fail in catastrophic ways in some areas of their lives.
