When - Friday, February 4, 2011 from 6:30pm to whenever we all stumble home or bail for food.
Why - I used to frequent this spot back when it was the gritty Madator, but it has since reinvented itself as a cool place to drink well-priced beers and cocktails while listening to good music. I've only been here once since it reopened but had a great time - in large part due to our super cool, very friendly/generous bartender - so I'm ready for more! Phil H's review notes you can bring in food from Tu Lan next door and Ruggy's review praises their DJ line up. The night I was here, they were playing some real deal dancehall - fantastic drinking soundtrack! Also, this is my friend Andy's "favourite" bar.
Happy Hour: $3 draft beers
Transit directions: The Showdown is just 1 block west of the 5th Street exit of the Powell BART/Muni station and accessible by any of the buses that run along Market. Check out this nifty Muni map:
