The Social Media Debate:
Come for the bagels, stay for the battle!
Social media conversations in Charlotte are about to get a little more ‘unsocial.’ We've rallied some of the city's brightest minds in web communications to go head-to-head in live debate for our first Social Media Breakfast of 2011.
Prepare for the gloves to come off and the opinions to fly in this rowdy debate around two emerging issues on the social web:
Topic 1: Is the Social Media ‘Bubble’ About to Burst?
The past several years’ social media surge represents the latest boom in Internet communications. As we experienced with the rapid rise of the dot-com industry, is that social media ‘bubble’ is about to burst?
Team 'Better Believe It':
Adam Holden-Bache, CEO/Managing Director of Mass Transmit
Katey Dietz, Social Media Marketing Manager at Innovasource
Team 'Not-in-a-Million':
Lyell Petersen, Director of Internet Marketing at iCruise.com / WMPH Vacations
Lisa Hoffmann, Social Media Specialist at Duke Energy
Topic 2: Should Brands Factor a Customer’s ‘Online Influence’ into Their Customer Support Strategy?
Many companies are integrating Klout and other measures of users’ influence into their online engagement strategies, but should ‘online influencers’ be the focal point for brands?
Team 'Absolute Agreement':
Jim Mitchem, CD, Writer, Partner at smashcommuncations / Marketing at Boxman Studios
Brandon Uttley, President, Social Media Consultant at Web Business Freedom, Inc.
Team 'No Way, No How':
Adam Holden-Bache*
Lisa Hoffmann*
Join us for this year’s first live social media debate as we hash out both sides to these important questions and let the audience decide which side wins!
* See links above.
**Please note: Debaters have been assigned topics and positions. Arguments may not reflect the individual's professional opinion, but are instead designed to provide the two opposing sides to each issue. Audience members will vote based on which team presents its argument in the most clear, succinct and convincing manner.
