BarCamp Orlando is a community building event which happens once a year to bring together people from different backgrounds to share and learn from each other. There will be people who know Java, .NET, Ruby, Python, PHP, and other technologies coming together with people who know film, music, photography, graphic design, podcasting, and even other new media.
9:30am — Announcements and the board opens for talk sign-ups
10:00am — Talks begin (each talk has a 30 minute slot)
12:00pm — Free lunch is served (it's a Mexican hot lunch with veggie options)
1:00pm — Talks start up again
6:00pm — Talks end
If you want to help set up, feel free to show up at 9:00am. We have 3 venues this year, which will host talks every 30 minutes.
There will be plenty of signage this year directing you to the venues, so don't worry about studying the map. There will be 42 slots available for talks with a projector and 14 slots for talks without, so if you want to do a talk this year and get a good slot, I recommend getting there early.
We will have a live schedule up at http://s.barcamporlando.org/, so you can check the schedule on your iPhone (or iPad even). There are also a limited number of free T-shirts, so you'll want to come early if you want one of those.
Concerning parking, there are plenty of paid parking garages around Wall Street for all-day parking ($10-15). We may reach an agreement for free parking, and we'll let you know if that happens. We are not attempting to provide Wi-Fi this year (it's never reliable), so please don't expect it. BarCamp is for learning, not for surfing the tubes. You may get lucky and find an open access point, however; stranger things have happened.
