We are proud to announce the Second Edition of Iniciador is here, and it's bigger and better! But wait, still a quite new event here in Tokyo. Let's explain it!
1. What is "Iniciador"?
Iniciador is the biggest entrepreneurship event in Spain. Meaning "Initiator", the motto of the organization is "from entrepreneurs to entrepreneurs". As a entrepreneur community (organized as a NPO), our objective is to promote entrepreneurship around the world. Since 2007, more than 40 cities in Spain are curating their own Iniciador, and now is becoming international: Iniciador Silicon Valley, Iniciador London and Iniciador Tokyo had come up in 2010, and Iniciador Montevideo in 2011.
The focus of the event is tech entrepreneurs, but is open to other areas and studies. The approach is fresh, close (person-to-person), and oriented to communication and networking. The first step in every meeting is a small self-presentation of all the attendants (very useful for networking purposes); the second one, an informal lecture from an experienced entrepreneur (specially important is the question time); and finally the networking time, where you will be able to present your ideas and thoughts to the other attendants and speakers.

Registration: No registration is required, but we recommend to join the event in our Iniciador Tokyo Facebook Page in order to boost the networking. The event is free, but please note the space is limited.

Matt is co-founder, together with Robert Laing, of myGengo.com, one of the most successful Japan-based tech startups. Offering human translations, their model is based in managing a big base of translators in order to offer fast & low-cost translations, taking virtually any job. But the "magic" came from their API: with this tool, you can manage the translation of frequently updated content, like blog posts, blog comments, online newspapers, etc. This have boosted the number of works they have to manage, and now they are growing really fast in an estimated $3 billion market (probably doubling in 4 years). With this numbers, is easy to understand how they raise $750,000 last September from first level investors.
Matt will tell us his experience as entrepreneur, how the started with myGengo and about the difficulties of being based in Japan. Iniciador format is like a friends chat, so remember to prepare your questions: for sure we have a lot to learn from this great entrepreneur.

第２回イニシアドール東京開催のお知らせです。前回よりさらに大きくなったイニシアドール東京でお会いしましょう！是非友達や知り合いの方ともお誘い合わせの上お越し下さい。
1. イニシアドールとは
イニシアドールはスペインで開催されてきた起業家たちが集う最大のイベントです。「イニシアドール」の意味は、スペイン語で「何か新しいことを始める人」という意味で、この組織がモットーに掲げる「起業家から起業家へ」という精神を象徴しています。世界中で起業家精神を広めていくことを目的に、NPOとして立ち上げられた起業家コミュニティーです。2007年以来、スペインの３５以上もの都市で独自にイニシアドールのイベントが開催されるようになりました。そして現在、イニシアドールは国際舞台へと広がりつつあります。「イニシアドール・シリコンバレー」、「イニシアドール・ロンドン」、「イニシアドール東京」は2010年に誕生した新たなイニシアドールの仲間です。
イベントはテクノロジーを主としていますが、他の分野や研究など、誰にでも開かれた場となっています。新しい情報を、人と人とのつながりを通して広げていくという、コミュニケーションやネットワーク作りを重視した集まりです。イベントではまず、参加者の方は全員簡単に自己紹介を行います。そして次に、様々な起業家の方の講演があります。質疑応答の時間はとても有意義なものとなるでしょう。最後は、ネットワーク作りのための時間となり、様々な参加者の方との交流を通してご自身のアイデアや考えなどを深めたり、他の参加者の方と話し合うことで新たな刺激を受けることもできるでしょう。

Robert Laingと共にmyGengo.comを創立。日本におけるIT事業で最も成功を収めた会社の一つ。多くの翻訳者を擁し、どんな原稿でも受け付け、早くて安い翻訳を提供している。APIの活用により、ブログのポストやコメント、オンラインの新聞などの頻繁に更新されるコンテンツを管理、翻訳することで業績を大幅に伸ばした。この方法を用いたことで、現在、推定３０億ドル市場にまで成長した（４年後には２倍になることが予想される）。この業績から、昨年９月には７５万ドルの投資をトップクラスの投資家たちから受けた。

Ya está aquí la segunda edición de Iniciador Tokio, y será más grande y mejor. Más espacio y más medios, y un ponente de excepción: Matt Romaine, cofundador de la exitosa startup myGengo.com. ¡Esperamos vuestra asistencia! 1. ¿Qué es Iniciador?
Iniciador es una comunidad de emprendedores, cuyo objetivo es promover y facilitar el emprendizaje alrededor del mundo. Para conseguirlo se organizan diferentes actividades, y entre ellas la principal es un evento cuyo objetivo es reunir emprendedores en un foro donde puedan conocerse. Hasta el momento, Iniciador se está realizando en 35 ciudades españolas, y en 2010 ha dado el salto internacional con las ediciones de Iniciador Silicon Valley, Iniciador Londres y ahora, Iniciador Tokio. Las actividades de Iniciador están dirigidas principalmente a los emprendedores tecnológicos, pero está abierto a otras áreas y personas interesadas en el emprendizaje.
El evento comienza con una breve presentación de cada uno de los asistentes y continúa con una charla o sesión de trabajo en común sobre un tema concreto relacionado con el emprendizaje dirigida por un emprendedor consolidado. Posteriormente tiene lugar una sesión de networking donde se puede charlar distendidamente sobre búsqueda de financiación, planes de negocio, promoción, etc...

Matt es, junto con Robert Laing, cofundador de myGengo.com, una de las startups más exitosas de Japón; un claro ejemplo a seguir por todos aquellos que quieran empezar o entrar en el mercado japonés. En myGengo se encargan de gestionar a una base de más de 600 traductores para ofrecer a sus clientes traducciones rápidas y de bajo coste. Pero la magia de su imparable crecimiento viene de su API: con esta herramienta, se pueden gestionar automáticamente las solicitudes de traducción de páginas que se actualizan constantemente, como pueden ser blogs o periódicos online. Con la cifra de trabajos que manejan disparada, Matt y sus compañeros están embarcados en un fuerte crecimiento. Teniendo en cuenta que están en un mercado potencial de 3000 millones de dólares (que probablemente se doblará en cuatro años), es normal que grandes inversores y business angels hayan entrado aportando un total de 750.000 dólares.
Matt nos contará su experiencia como emprendedor, desde que arrancaron en 2008 hasta ahora; así como de las dificultades de estar establecidos en Japón. Como sabéis, el formato de Iniciador es como una conversación entre amigos, así que aseguraos de traer unas cuantas preguntas preparadas: tenemos mucho que aprender de este gran emprendedor.
