Unleash your inner geek at the first ever Atlanta GeekUp hosted by Chad Elkins and Wendy Rutherford! The #ATLGeekUp takes the traditional tweetup/meetup concept and tosses in a slightly geeky aspect. The idea is to put together both social and informative activities that encourage exploration of fun and interesting things around Atlanta.
We are excited to kick things off at the William Breman Jewish & Holocaust Museum for their special exhibit called "Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books 1938-1950". This exhibit is only here for a limited time and highlights comic book characters that helped shape a generation on moral values and to serve as temporal relief from the economic and political instability during the 1930s and 40s. We will start things off with a showing of the 1975 original pilot episode of "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman" starring Lynda Carter where she battles the Nazis during World War II. From there The Breman will provide our group a private guided tour of the comic book exhibit. Afterwards, we will head over to TAP at 1180 Peachtree St (located at the corner of Peachtree and 14th).
Schedule for Sunday March 20th:
2pm: Reserved Seating Area for viewing of the Wonder Woman pilot episode
3pm: Private guided tour of the comic book exhibit
4pm - ?: Mix & Mingle at TAP (meet in the bar area)
The Breman has provided our group with a very generous discount. The cost to attend both the pilot viewing and guided tour is only $6. When you arrive at The Breman, please pay the cashier and don't forget to mention that you are with the GeekUp group so that you receive the special pricing and can be directed to the reserved seating area for the show.
Please be sure to RSVP in advance and accurately as we need to ensure adequate seating is reserved for the pilot showing. Note: the Breman parking lot is gated and closes at 5pm so do not leave your car there after the tour. TAP has complimentary valet parking if you wish to drive over and park there.
