Ends March 6. Batteries Not Included: Toys from the Michigan Historical Museum offers the largest exhibition of toys from our collection in the museum's history. You'll see toys, games, model cars and recreation equipment that either were made in Michigan or were used in Michigan.
For a certain generation of children, Lionel trains and Daisy air rifles were among the most prized Christmas presents that could be found under the tree. Lionel, founded more than a century ago in New York City, is now headquartered in Chesterfield, Michigan. Daisy was introduced in 1886 by a company in Plymouth, Michigan; the air rifle maker later relocated to Arkansas.
Other toys made in Michigan owe their inspiration and success to the state's manufacturing heritage.
