On Tuesday -- March 15th -- we are asking you and your extended network of friends and service supporters to Make the Call to Save Service in America!
Please pledge to call both of your Senators on March 15th and encourage your friends and colleagues to do the same:

On March 15th, let your Senators know that we are not giving up or going away. Let them hear us -- all of us -- by overwhelming their offices with phone calls asking them to Save Service in America.
Here's how you can help:
- Pledge to participate on March 15th:
http://bit.ly/pledgetocall
- Ask your friends, coworkers, and family to pledge too
- RVSP to our Facebook event. Mark your calendars. Share and invite your friends
Stay tuned: We will be adding tools and instructions to
www.saveservice.org this week to make your outreach fast and simple.
To get everyone up to speed, here is the situation:
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed legislation that would shut down the Corporation for National and Community Service. Yes, you read correctly:
If this bill were to become law it would eliminate AmeriCorps, Learn & Serve, Foster Grandparents, Senior Companions and the other service programs.
The Senate has been debating the budget all week, but the legislators have failed to make much headway because the Senate is so deeply divided. This legislative stalemate cannot last much longer.
The federal government is operating under another short-term resolution that expires on March 18th. Congress must reach a compromise and pass a budget bill or risk a government-wide shutdown next week. Serious budget negotiations have already started and Congress will find common ground very soon. But the question is:
will the compromise include funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service?
Can we Save Service in America? Let’s Make the Call together on March 15th to Save Service.
