SUMMARY:Twitter Retreat -- Special Panel
DESCRIPTION:Kicking the day off at the Twitter Retreat will be a discussion
with three people who are in the information trenches\, learning
what kind of a role social media is really playing in Tunisia and
 beyond. \n
 \n
 Participants: \n
Andy Carvin (ACarvin) has taken journalism to a new level by
becoming a 24/7 curator of Tweets about Tunisia\, using his
trusted network of contacts in the region to create a storyline
in the voice of those on the ground. Jillian York (@jilliancyork)
works at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard
University and writes for Global Voices Online about politics and
free expression in the Arab world. She'll speak to her informed
opinions about what technology and social media really mean for
the world\, moving beyond the surface and into the reality.
Lastly there's Gilles Frydman (@GillesFrydman) who founded ACOR\,
the oldest and largest online social network for cancer patients.
He is working on a project tapping into social media to
accelerate medical and scientific discovery. \n
 \n
**Following this panel will be a small working session with
Twitter's CSR lead\, Claire Diaz (@ClaireD) where everyone will
be asked to participate in a brainstorm about how Twitter\, inc.
can better support pro-social movements on the platform.
