Rides, Games and Inflatables: Located at Homewood Central Park the fun begins at 10:00am and lasts until 5:00pm. A “We Love Homewood Day” favorite will offer a variety of inflatables, rides and activities that the children enjoy.
· Homewood City Schools Spirit Scamper (5k / 10k / 1 mile Fun Run): Make a running start to "We Love Homewood Day" with the Spirit Scamper at Homewood High School. Race begins at 7:30am.
· Arts and Crafts / Business Expo: In Homewood Community Center Gymnasium 10:00am – 4:00pm “Spring in the Park.” Crafters, businesses and civic groups will display, sell wares and provide information to persons in attendance.
· Entertainment: Entertainment will be provided throughout the day on the Main Stage at Central Park.
· West Homewood Lions Club BBQ: For over 25 years the West Homewood Lions Club has been cooking delicious BBQ as one of their major fund raisers. The meat is slow cooked over an open pit with hickory wood all night prior to being served. The BBQ will be from 10:30am until 3:00pm. A percentage of the proceeds are invested back in the Homewood community.
· Rotary Club Bake Sale: 10:00am-1:00pm, located in the Community Center Auditorium. Cakes, cookies and other goodies.
· Rotary Club Sidewalk Chalk Art Expo: 10:00am-4:00pm, sidewalk chalk art exhibits are around the playground at Central Park. Local artists display their talent on the sidewalk panels.
· The Society for Creative Anachronism: Come turn back the clock and experience medieval culture at “We Love Homewood Day.” Demonstrations of armored combat and other activities will take place during the day at Homewood Central Park.
· Silent Auction: From 10:00am – 4:00pm in the Community Center Room 100. Come and bid on a variety of items. Gift cards, baskets and dance workshops are a few of the items offered.
· We Love Homewood Day Parade: Line – up will begin at 5:00pm for the annual parade. The parade will begin at the Homewood Library at 6:00pm traveling west on Oxmoor Road to the Edgewood Business District. Homewood’s Mayor, Scott McBrayer will present the Parade Awards at the end of the parade in the Edgewood Business District. Awards for the parade will include Best of Show, Best Performance and Best Float.
· Quality of Life Award: Mayor Scott McBrayer will present Quality of Life Award to a deserving Homewood citizen to be named at a later date. Come find out who will win the award for 2011.
· Live Night Entertainment Street Dance: As the sun sets just after the conclusion of the parade the action picks up with live entertainment and a street dance in Edgewood. Bring the entire family and your lounge chair and be ready to dance the night away. The Atlanta based up and coming group, “The Shadowboxers” take the stage playing a wide selection of songs suitable for family fun. Merchants in Edgewood will be open serving food and beverage.
