Featuring the work of ASU MFA and BFA Fiber students, as well as ASU staff, faculty, and community members, this exhibition includes works that employ a fibers sensibility that seek to disturb, unsettle, or challenge expectations or assumptions. Members of FAN identify that something draws us to what are considered traditional household fiber techniques as they can carry connotations of home, tradition, and family. The exhibition turns those comfortable connotations upside down to convey sometimes shocking and uncomfortable. Traditional techniques are transformed into tools for powerful artistic and social voice, twisting those "soft" connotations into "hard" social commentary.
