We'd like to thank R/GA for sponsoring the event and helping to make it free for everybody to attend. R/GA is a digital ad agency with a new office in Singapore. R/GA has a company ethos committed to creativity, technology, and design - a natural synergy to SHDH.
The Pigeonhole (52 & 53 Duxton Road) will host Singapore’s first ever Super Happy Dev House (“SHDH”) SG, an all-night ‘hackfest’ and party with beer, food, fun projects, lightning talks, on Saturday 14 May 2011. SHDH SG is a gathering of geeks, hackers, start-ups and creative thinkers.
====================================
SHDH started in 2005 in the Bay Area of San Francisco and Silicon Valley in California as an informal gathering for people to share knowledge, explore technology and collaborate in a fun, ad-hoc and creative environment. SHDH now takes place everywhere in the world including Canada, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom.
The organizers of SHDH SG are Jason Ong, Adrianna Tan and Vincent Lauria. A civil engineer by training, Jason is a hacker, musician and entrepreneur. Adrianna is a former travel writer and photographer turned tech consultant and entrepreneur. Vincent, a computer engineer by training, now spends his time exploring the world (http://www.urbanhikers.com/).
With organizers like Jason, Adrianna and Vincent, and participants of comparable caliber and enormous diversity, SHDH SG is stepping up, raising the flag of the Cool Geek, and bashing traditional myopic stereotypes about the awkwardness and introversion of the garden variety nerd.
Similarly, SHDH helps reinvent ‘hacking’ from its popular perception of a lawless underground network of hackers and spiteful social rejects hell bent on inflicting Internet damage, to the reality that is a lively, fun-loving and community-spirited fellowship of people who love what they do and do what they love.
Computer hacking is most commonly associated with illegal access into private networks. Within insider vernacular, however, hacking refers to testing and exploring the potential of programmable systems. In other words, hacking in the context of SHDH SG is a means of analysis rather than annihilation.
